yay, my parents came yesterday morning!! it was so so so so SO great to see them, i miss my family much. it's parents' weekend, so there were a lot of parents here. i showed them around campus, then we went down to foggy bottom for lunch and i showed them around the foggy bottom campus. at the gw bookstore, the journalist helen thomas was signing copies of her new book. she's this really famous journalist who covers the white house, and has covered the past like 7 administrations. i didn't know who she was, but my parents walked in and recognized her immediately. my parents got a book signed for my grandpa and i took a picture of them together. my grandpa was a journalist/editor in china, and he really admires ms. thomas. my dad was telling her about that, and she wrote a nice little message. so that was cool. all the parents were so cute, walking around with name tags and buttons that said "gw dad" or "gw mom." my dad wore his pin, and my mom took like 4 different mom pins from the basket. then we went to my aunt and uncle's house in rockville, maryland. we stayed at their house overnight, and my parents left this morning. =(my parents brought so much stuff! mainly food. they brought a long cable, so now the cable is hooked up and i can watch tv in my room. yay. and lots of food- spaghetti o's, cereal, pudding, orange juice, apples, other stuff, and two bags of the chinese dried squid stuff, which is absolutely the best. they also brought my new cell phone. it's super cool. i wish they didn't leave. i probably won't go home until thanksgiving...6 and a half weeks!! i hope i can make it. well, i know i definitely won't starve.
