today is a good day for sleeping. lab was so much fun today. we dissected sea stars and crayfish and it was a lot of fun. that sounds kind of dorky, but it's true. my lab ta is really cool...he's the coolest of all the bio TAs apparently. i hear the other TAs are really bad, and no one can understand them or know what to do, and they can't speak english or something. so i guess i'm pretty lucky to be in that lab section. speaking of TAs, on the calc midterm, the TA graded the first problem of each exam, which was a pretty simple two-part limits problem. when i got my exam back last week, i was looking at the problems i messed up on, and figured out what to do, and didn't notice that i got a 10/16 on the first problem until i got back to my dorm. nothing was marked on the paper, either check marks or circled/crossed out if i got it wrong. so i couldn't figure out why i lost 6 points- there was no indication. so i went to the professor and he said it looked right, but that i should talk to the TA. so yesterday at recitation i asked him, and he had no idea why he took 6 points off, and said he would change it. so i'm going to get a higher grade! that, plus the midterm scandal last year really shows me to check my papers carefully.

i might go to this "open mic" poetry reading thing tonight. i've never been to one, and so i really shouldn't make fun of them...it should be interesting. =)

band concert on sunday! my first ever college band concert. i never practice anymore, i should. i'm kind of excited, we're playing some good stuff. band is cool. i miss high school band, kind of. i miss playing piano, i wish i had practiced more during the summer. i miss home...my bed, my room, me and lisa's bathroom, my family, my dog, my car, driving...sigh. a month until thanksgiving, i think i can handle it.

they caught the snipers!!!!!! yesterday was crazy, news-wise. it's so bizarre, a stepfather and stepson, who's only 17 years old. plus the fact they're not white, it's really surprising. i'm hoping that they're the snipers, and that there won't be copycats. it's been a pretty scary 3 weeks.

more later.
