Sunday, November 18

hm, today was prett cool.

ok, so first i watched the leonid meteor showers. i was planning on going outside at midnight, but i fell asleep and woke up at 1. so i got up and woke my mom up and we went outside. i could see some stars, but no meteors. so i went back to sleep, setting my alarm for 3:30. and i woke up at 3:30 and woke my mom up (and my dog while i was at it, so he started barking a lot) and we went outside. by then it was really freezing, but the coolest happened. i saw so many meteors! i guess they looked like shooting stars, if that's what shooting stars look like. it seemed like they were just falling from the sky, and it was THE coolest thing i've ever seen. from our porch the big dipper was right in front of us, and i've never really seen the big dipper. some of the meteors were really bright and big and their tails were bright green and when you couldn't see the meteor anymore you could still see the tail in the sky while it faded away. and others were smaller, but really cool. it was almost surreal! i stayed outside for about an hour, and we must have seen like 30 meteors. or meteorites, whatever they're called. i've never seen anything like it- it was totally amazing. they said the next leonid meteor showers that are going to be this clear like this morning won't happen until 2099. hehe, so i'm glad i got to see it. i really think i want to major in astronomy. it is so awesome.

well, crashing back down to earth and reality, i have to go write. i finished reading "song of solomon" finally this morning. it's pretty good, but too much cursing. i plan to read "the bear" tonight and start my paper tomorrow. serious! no procrastination, well...i've already procrastinated for about 2 months, so what am i talking about. ah well. going to go write a college essay. really! =)
